When Sit-Ups Aren’t Working, Consider a Tummy Tuck

Are you ready for the beach this summer? You love swimming, hanging out with your friends, and lounging in the sun. Have you been exercising and eating healthy with the hopes of losing some weight? Well, the sad truth is that it is extremely hard for people to lose weight, especially in their stomach. Even though you are doing everything right, you have nothing to show for it. Maybe you had a baby and are dreading the way your body will look in a bikini. Do not turn to fad diets or weight loss pills that are dangerous! There is an easier solution that will work: plastic surgery.

You might have told yourself you would never get plastic surgery, but after working effortlessly for weeks and months on your body with no change you are starting to reconsider you initial thought. Millions of Americans alter their outside appearance from getting plastic surgery to dying their hair to applying makeup. You want your inner beauty to reflect your outer beauty. You can stop eating celery and lettuce with no change in weight! You should have a consultation with a plastic surgeon.

With any surgical procedure, there are benefits and risks. A tummy tuck is medically known as abdominoplasty. A tummy tuck will remove the excessive skin of your abdominal region. So you are not left with saggy skin; the underlying muscles will be tightened as well. If you had a baby, you can say goodbye to that loose skin!
The procedure begins with an incision best described as an extended C-section scar. The the excess skin is separated from the abdominal wall. The vertical abdominal muscles are tightened while excess fat and skin are removed. Finally, the navel is re-positioned to fit your new, slim stomach.

If you are planning on having more children or are actively trying to lose a substantial amount of weight, you should not get abdominoplasty surgery immediately. Rather, you should postpone the surgery until you are an ideal candidate. You also have to be in relatively good health in order for the procedure to be scheduled. If you are a smoker, you have to completely stop for a few weeks before and after the surgery. Smoking may lead to unwanted complications with healing.

After the tummy tuck is complete, it may be difficult for you to stand until the swelling goes down for the first few days. Reaching and stretching can cause harm to the sutured areas so modification to your exercise routine is necessary. Any type of upper body movement such as pivoting, turning, and lifting should be avoided until you are fully recovered. On the lower half of the body, your legs may swell because of fluid accumulation. However, this should clear up quickly. Nevertheless, it is important you prepare for some down time from work, school, and at home. You do not want to hurt yourself by physically moving your body before you are fully recovered.
